Boracay

"Powder-white sand and legendary fire-dancing beach parties."

Best: December to April$500 - $650

If 'beach' and 'party' are the priorities, Boracay is unbeatable. While it lacks high mountains, the hilly northern part of the island offers great hiking, and the social atmosphere for a group of friends is the best in the region.

A balanced mix of world-class white sands, hilltop viewpoints, and the Philippines' most legendary beachfront nightlife, all within a backpacker-friendly budget.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 · Bantud Arrival and White Beach Chill

Morning — Arrive at Caticlan Airport, take the jetty to Boracay Island. Settle into a beach-front cafe for a traditional Filipino breakfast (silog).

Afternoon — Check into your hotel at Station 2. Walk the length of White Beach and grab a fruit shake at Jonah's Fruit Shake. Relax on the powdery sand.

Evening — Experience the famous Boracay sunset with a cocktail at a beachfront bar. Dine at D'Mall and enjoy the live acoustic music along the shore.

💡 Avoid pedicabs that overcharge; stick to the standard e-trike rates.

Day 2 · Heights and High Winds

Morning — Rent a paddleboard at Station 1 near Willy's Rock. The water is calmest in the morning for photos by the iconic volcanic formation.

Afternoon — Head to Bulabog Beach (the island's 'windy side'). Watch kiteboarders or try it yourself. Take an e-trike to Mt. Luho, the island's highest point, for a panoramic view.

Evening — Head to Station 1 for a slightly more upscale dinner. Visit 'Exit Bar' for a legendary local party vibe with fire dancers on the beach.

💡 The hike up Mt. Luho is short but steep; bring water and wear sturdy sandals.

Day 3 · Island Hopping and Puka Vibes

Morning — Book a shared 'Island Hopping' boat tour. Visit Crystal Cove Island and go snorkeling at Crocodile Island to see vibrant coral reefs.

Afternoon — Visit Puka Shell Beach on the northern tip. It's less crowded and has a rugged, natural feel. Enjoy grilled corn and fresh coconut water.

Evening — Bar hop through the famous 'Boracay PubCrawl' or create your own route starting at Epic Boracay for house music and dancing.

💡 Puka Beach has stronger waves; be careful if you aren't a strong swimmer.

Day 4 · Hidden Coves and Sunset Sails

Morning — Sleep in after the party night. Have a brunch at 'Real Coffee & Tea' and try their famous Calamansi Muffins.

Afternoon — Visit Diniwid Beach, a hidden cove accessible via a cliffside path from Station 1. Grab a drink at Spider House or Dinibeach Bar.

Evening — Book a Paraw Sailing sunset cruise. It’s an iconic Boracay experience to sail on a traditional outrigger as the sun dips below the horizon.

💡 Paraw sailing prices are negotiable; always haggle with the vendors on the beach.

Day 5 · Last Dip and Souvenir Hunting

Morning — Enjoy a final swim and a heavy breakfast. Take photos at the grotto during low tide for the clearest water.

Afternoon — Do some last-minute souvenir shopping at D'Mall. Grab a giant 'Halo-Halo' dessert to beat the heat before heading to the jetty.

Evening — Depart via Caticlan. Reflect on the perfect mix of high-energy parties and island serenity.

💡 Buy dried mangoes and calamansi concentrate at local groceries for cheaper prices than at the airport.
