Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 · Malaga City Culture & Coastal Vibes
Morning — Explore Malaga's historic center. Visit the Alcazaba fortress and the Roman Theatre. Hike up to Gibralfaro Castle for panoramic city and sea views.
Afternoon — Sunbathe at Malagueta Beach followed by a seafood lunch of 'espetos' (sardines) at a beach chiringuito. Walk the palm-lined Muelle Uno waterfront.
Evening — Head to the rooftop bar at AC Hotel Malaga Palacio for a cocktail with cathedral views, then dinner in the buzzing Soho art district.

Day 2 · Into the Sierra Nevada Mountains
Morning — Pick up a rental car and drive toward Granada. Stop at the Botanical Garden of La Concepción on the way out of Malaga.
Afternoon — Drive 1.5 hours to the white village of Monachil. Hike the Los Cahorros trail, featuring hanging bridges and narrow limestone river gorges.
Evening — Drive up to Pradollano (Sierra Nevada ski village). Check into a mountain lodge and enjoy a hearty Alpujarran stew for dinner.
💡 The Los Cahorros hike can be slippery; wear shoes with good grip.
Day 3 · High Peaks and Alpine Air
Morning — Explore the high-mountain scenery. If it's summer, take the cable car up from Pradollano for easier access to the ridge trails.
Afternoon — Drive to the Hoya de la Mora area (2,500m). Take a guided high-altitude hike toward Veleta Peak for views of the Mediterranean and even Africa on clear days.
Evening — Return to Pradollano for Après-ski style drinks and a relaxed dinner at a local grill house near the main square.
💡 Even in summer, temperatures at the peak are significantly cooler; bring a windbreaker.
Day 4 · The White Villages & Nerja Cliffs
Morning — Drive down from the mountains towards the coast (1.5 hours). Stop at the 'Balcony of Europe' in Nerja for stunning cliffside ocean views.
Afternoon — Arrive in Nerja. Visit the Nerja Caves or walk the narrow white-washed streets. Relax at Playa de Burriana or the secluded Playa del Carabeo.
Evening — Sunset drinks at the 'Balcón de Europa' promenade before a final dinner of fresh tapas. Return the rental car in Malaga city.
